Through volunteering, walks and tours, earth friendly activities and browsing a green craft fair, everyone was able to learn while having fun. Interactive family-friendly activities included making an earth wind kite, going on a tree scavenger hunt, listening to story time, and bringing home your own tree sapling to plant.
There was an estimated 2,000 participants throughout the day. It started with a volunteer weeding project in the Gardens where 18 people helped pull invasive weeds, then later there was earth-friendly games and activities for the families, tree give-a-ways, musical performance by the band “Nature Jams,” and a green craft fair with more than 20 vendors selling recycled, re-purposed, up-cycled items such as jewelry, soaps and lotions, edible bird houses, recycled glass art, etc.
