The proposal
Chris proposed on Cinco de Mayo. He had come over after grad school class and the couple was discussing travel to one of Brooke's friend's weddings. That year, she had attended 11 weddings, so it was a common topic. Jokingly, she said, "Well, we are never going to get married" when referring to the large cost of travel to this one wedding. Chris said "Want to bet? How much?" and Brooke who doesn't like to loose bets said "OK" and offered $50. Chris proceeded to propose and it was one bet Brooke was glad she had lost. Chris did not collect the $50.
