Green Acres School held their fourth annual Day of Action on Friday, April 12. The event focuses on educating middle school students and parents to take action against discrimination and mistreatment faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The event opened with an allies panel, in which session hosts described the importance of sharing stories in order to, as one high school student described, “move beyond tolerance and toward acceptance.” Students and parents each participated in two sessions on different LGBT and bullying topics. During the closing assembly Middle School Head Peter Braverman encouraged students to use what they learned from the panelists’ stories to become advocates beyond just the Green Acres community.
