Every season, there are particular clothing and accessories that I buy multiples of and stockpile in my closet. I would be devastated if at any time these items were discontinued or fell out of style.
If I feel this way about certain clothing and accessories, I'm sure many of you do to. Here is a peek at what I put at the top of my shopping list each spring. What are your go-to items?
DENIM CUTOFF SHORTS:
Denim cutoffs are perfect to wear with blazers, light-weight sweaters or tees. Loose fitting versions like these from Elizabeth and James allow you to roll up or keep long – whatever your preference may be. Pick them up at Shopbop.
SOFT SCARVES:
I can never have enough scarves for the transition between seasons. They are great for layering over maxi dresses and tee shirts, especially for those chilly spring mornings and evenings. Lou Lou Boutique on Bethesda Row has a wide variety of colors and styles.
MAXI DRESSES:
Maxi dresses are perfect for transitioning from chilly to warm weather. They are extremely versatile. You can layer light leather coats or blazers along with scarves for a casual weekend look. I always have solid color versions stocked in my closet. Old Navy always has a wide assortment of styles and colors like the one seen here.
SHEER PINK LIPSTICK:
I'm not a huge lipstick fan. I tend to lean towards a simple chapstick or very light lipgloss. However, when my friend introduced me to NARS Roman Holiday a few years ago I was hooked. It goes on sheer, but still adds a pop of color to my spring look. I head immediately to Blue Mercury, on Bethesda Row, each spring to pick up a few tubes.
VINTAGE TEES:
Soft vintage tees from J.Crew are my obsession. At the start of spring, I stockpile them in every color. They are great to throw on with denim, shorts and over bathing suits – the ultimate lounging shirt. You can find them at any local J.Crew store.
METALLIC FLIP FLOPS:
I live in flip flops from the beginning of spring all the way through the end of summer. I love simple styles, especially the J.Crew capri sandal in silver and gold. They usually go fast, so I show up at the store at the very beginning of the season to snap up a few pairs.
