Rockville Women’s Business Center celebrates two-year anniversary

More than 180 people attended the event

The Rockville Women’s Business Center hosted an event to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of women and the second anniversary of the non-profit organization.   

Keynote speaker Karen Zuckerman, founder of HZDG and Dormify, inspired a crowd of more than 180 people with the story of how she built two successful businesses from her basement in Rockville and grew them into a nationally acclaimed company with more than 200 employees and offices in Montgomery County and New York.  

The program also included recognition and remarks from Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, Montgomery County Council Members Nancy Floreen, George Leventhal, and Hans Riemer, Rockville City Council Members Bridget Newton and Mark Pierzchala, U.S. Small Business Administration District Director Bridget Bean, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development Director Steve Silverman, and Citi/Citi Foundation representative Sheldon Caplis.

In its first two years of operation, the RWBC has helped more than 1,200 people throughout Montgomery County start and grow businesses positioned for long-term growth in the community.
