How the Frock To Layer Clothing

A lesson in layering for the chilly fall weather in three easy steps

Just like mixing prints, layering can be tricky. You don't want to have too many layers, but you also don't want to leave the house to face the chilly fall weather without enough of them. Therein lies the challenge.

Layering can include tanks, shirts, sweaters, jackets, belts, scarves and so many more items. Sometimes it's hard to know where to begin.

Here are the steps I take when peering into my closet to pull items to layer:

  1. Start with thin tank or button down as a base layer.
  2. Add on a sweater or cardigan (don't be afraid to throw a belt on over either of these)
  3. Throw on a jacket, blazer or vest (A thin leather jacket is perfect for the fall)

To top it all off, accessorize with a great scarf and some shiny baubles. Most importantly remember that three layers is plenty and keep each of the layers fairly light or your look can end up feeling extremely bulky (and way too hot).
