Man Accused of Kidnapping, Sexual Solicitation Fights Charges – The attorney for Nathan Samuel Portnoy, the Falls Church, Va., man and Iraq War veteran accused last week of sexually soliciting a 12-year-old Bethesda girl and threatening her family with a handgun, said the charges are “completely unfounded,” during a bond review hearing on Tuesday in Rockville. Woodmont Avenue Project Delayed Until Friday – Montgomery County announced the closure of Woodmont Avenue would be pushed back to Friday, Sept. 7, at about 9 p.m. The closure will allow developers of two new apartment buildings at the intersection of Woodmont and Bethesda Avenues to build an underground parking garage near Bethesda Row.

Maryland Delegation to DNC Honors Sargent Shriver – Maryland political figures and delegates at this week’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte honored Sargent Shriver at a ceremony on Tuesday. The local politician founded the Peace Corps and died last year at Suburban Hospital. [Washington Post]
