Track maintenance and the installation of a fiber optic cable on Metro’s Red Line will affect Bethesda commuters heading downtown this weekend.
There will be no rail service between the Dupont Circle and NoMa-Gallaudet U Stations from 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 to system closing on Sunday, Sept. 9. Free shuttle service will be provided between the two stations, but the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is encouraging riders to add 30 minutes to their commutes and use it’s trip planner.
Red Line trains will run every 10 minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and at regular intervals during other times between the Shady Grove and Dupont Circle Stations.
On Friday night, the last train from Shady Grove to Dupont Circle will leave 30 minutes earlier than normal, at 2 a.m. On Sunday night, the last train will also leave 30 minutes earlier, at 11 p.m.
