Murder mystery theater group Do or Die Productions is bringing its interactive show to Flanagan’s Harp & Fiddle (4844 Cordell Avenue) after 18 months at the Blair Mansion Restaurant in Silver Spring.
Bethesda native and Do or Die director C.J. Crowe said there’s a place for a dinner theater concept in Bethesda.
“We feel like there’s a demand. Bethesda is an arts community but this is different from anything that is going on there now,” Crowe said. “It’s different than Round House or Imagination Stage. It’s more engaging. It’s not like watching a movie. It’s like being on the set of a movie.”
Crowe matched up with friend and Harp & Fiddle co-owner Steve Nugent to bring the group to the 45-seat private dining room on Friday and Saturday nights. The first show, “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” is Sept. 14.
The $47.50 ticket also buys dinner, which starts at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Crowe hopes the show becomes a permanent fixture at the restaurant. She’s written more than 34 shows, mostly around seasonal themes. This year’s “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” Halloween show will feature an election crossover bit.
A typical show has six actors, who interact with those audience members willing to put themselves out there.
“If you just want to laugh and have a good time, you can sit and watch the show too,” Crowe said.
Audience members are invited to stay for live music after the show. For more information, visit Harp & Fiddle’s website.
