Police Investigating Bizarre ‘Anti-Abortion’ Incident In Chevy Chase

August 21, 2012 2:30 p.m.

Police are looking for someone who rang the doorbell at a Chevy Chase home around 3 a.m. on Aug. 16 and left a box with the message “Baby Killers” written on it.

The incident occurred in the 4000 block of Leland Street in the Town of Chevy Chase, according to Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Officer Janelle Smith. The male homeowner heard the doorbell, found the box and then called police, Smith said.

Smith said police have determined the homeowner has no affiliation with any pro-abortion group.

“They don’t know why it went there or who brought it there,” Smith said.

On Aug. 16, the Town of Chevy Chase sent out an email alert that said a home was vandalized with an “anti-abortion message.” Smith said police found no evidence of vandalism and there was no permanent damage to the home.

Town of Chevy Chase Manager Todd Hoffman said the FBI and Secret Service are involved in the investigation. FBI Baltimore Field Office spokesman Rich Wolf said the agency would not be commenting.
