Cork 57 Beer & Wine offered a special wine tasting for both NFL fans and wine connoisseurs as celebrity guest, Charles Woodson, a former Heisman trophy winner, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, eight-time Pro Bowl participant, and current cornerback of the Green Bay Packers, debuted his boutique wine label, “Twentyfour by Charles Woodson,” on Thursday, April 26.
Woodson, was on hand to pour some of his award-winning vintages, including his 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, Twentyfour by Charles Woodson, Napa, and 2008 of the same variety. The NFL star bought his small boutique winery while playing with the Oakland Raiders, near the Napa Valley, and his signature wine label “Twentyfour by Charles Woodson,” is an ode to his number with Oakland.
The festivities commenced with a tasting conducted by Rick Ruiz, former Robert Mondavi winemaker and Woodson's partner. Woodson then signed football memorabilia and met with guests.
Woodson's boutique winery, produces fewer than 1,000 cases per year of its two varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and chose Cork 57 as Bethesda’s exclusive beer & wine store for retailing his signature wines.
