Definition Boutique to open in June

Kiosk owner Hatice Rosato takes over the former Coco Mio space

When the owners of Coco Mio decided not to renew their lease at the end of March, Hatice Rosato took the opportunity to expand her business. “The space became available and I just thought I’d go for it,” she says. Her new store, Definition Boutique, will make its debut at 4700 Bethesda Avenue in June.

You may already know Rosato’s kiosk, Istanbul, on Bethesda Row in front of the Landmark Theatre and Mon Ami Gabi. She’s been selling jewelry, hats and accessories there for six years. She says she’ll continue to do so as long as the construction in the area allows.

For her new enterprise, the Turkish native says she’s expanding into quality designer jewelry and apparel for women and eventually, men. She plans on stocking up on dresses and Turkish linen trousers ($150-$200), Italian designer denim, handbags and trendy, fun outfits for the younger set. She’ll still sell jewelry, but wants to find fine pieces from local artists.

She says with the exception of the higher end items, most of the apparel will run around $30 to $70. She plans to add men’s lines in the fall.

And as for Coco Mio, co-owner Brigitte Kirschner says she hasn’t decided yet what the next step will be. As soon as we find out, you will too.
