Though the company hasn’t yet sent out an official customer email or letter, the word from Barneys New York Co-Op is that the trendy boutique is closing its doors in early August.
The Georgetown store, however, will remain open, and so far, there are no plans for a liquidation sale, according to a Barneys employee.
The “wayward youngster” version of Barneys New York opened along with several other upscale boutiques at The Collection at Chevy Chase six years ago.
The shopping center was dubbed the “Rodeo Drive of the East Coast” by Edward Asher, former president of The Chevy Chase Land Company.
