Though it was a little gray and drizzly outside, the colorful shades of spring shown bright inside South Moon Under at the “Turn Up The Heat” fashion show Wednesday night.

Shoppers packed the Bethesda boutique while models showed off the latest in dresses, denim, shorts, lingerie and swimwear. Guests were treated to platters of hors d’ouevres, sweets and beverages from My Thyme catering.

The event, sponsored by the Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland, Bethesda Magazine, South Moon Under, SyLene and Salon Náder, who styled all the models’ hair, benefits the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County, a nonprofit that provides preventative healthcare to low-income, uninsured individuals.

South Moon Under store manager Courtney Chapman says neons, colorblocking and mix-and-match bold prints are hot this season. Ensembles included flowing patterned pants, colorful skinny jeans, chunky statement jewelry, handbags and shoes—vivid wedges, high platforms and sandals. Dresses were layered with loosely woven sweaters and wrap belts, while tops were paired with coordinating “bralettes”.

SyLene’s collection included lingerie ranging from everything from polka dotted bras and panties to delicate lace sets to colorful nighties.

Ten percent of all items sold at the event benefit the Primary Care Coalition.  Bethesda Magazine publisher Steve Hull, who also acted as emcee, said that both Bethesda Magazine and the Cosmetic Surgery Center of Maryland are matching that amount up to $500. Guests could also donate $10, which got them a raffle ticket and a chance to win prizes throughout the evening—everything from spa packages to gift certificates.
