Elizabeth Cayne Rosen, an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Washington University in St. Louis, originally from Bethesda; and Max Rosen, a first year medical student at Washington University School of Medicine, also originally from Washington, D.C.
The wedding
July 3. The ceremony and reception was held at The Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C.
How they met
At Washington University in St. Louis as undergraduates in 2008, even though they grew up right down the road from one another.
The proposal
On a friday afternoon before Valentine's Day, Max instructed Elizabeth to meet him in from of the main library on campus for a scavenger hunt. Upon entering the main quad on campus, Max teasingly pulls out a big purple, plastic diamond ring. As they kept walking through the quad, Max then handed Elizabeth a folded up piece of paper that had "Will you marry me?" in several languages. When Elizabeth looked up, Max was down on one knee with his grandmother's ring.
What she loves most about him
“I love Max's sense of humor, and how comfortable, happy and secure I feel when I am with him. I love that he loves to cook, and doesn't mind that I don't. He appreciates my quirkiness, and I love that he is so supportive, kind and giving. Most of all, I love that he is my best friend.”

“Elizabeth is my perfect complement. I love that she loves my cooking. She is the most supportive person I have ever met, and she encourages me to be my best.”

What made it special
"Even though we grew up ten minutes away from each other, it took a chance meeting in St. Louis, Missouri to bring us together. It was so meaningful that we were able to celebrate the beginning of our new lives together in the city where we both grew up, surrounded by family and friends."
