Neiman Marcus in Mazza Gallerie will host fashion designer Fabiola Arias this Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Couture Salon on the second level.

Models will showcase the designer’s new spring collection of gowns and cocktail dresses, which store spokesperson Liberty Jones describes as “a little bit rock and roll and a lot couture luxe.”

“She is young, vibrant and so talented,” says Jones, who has seen a lot of designers over the years. “She is a real rising star.”

The 24-year-old Cuban-born Arias launched her first line while a senior at the Parsons School of Design in New York. Her artistic background is reflected in her edgy designs.

“I create each piece as if it were a painting, and the fabric is my brush stroke,” she says on her website. The designer, who is also a painter and sculptor, was influenced by her costume-designer mother and filmmaker father.

Her cocktail dresses and gowns run from $2,500 to $6,900. Arias will speak to customers Friday at 1 p.m.

The events are free and open to the public. For more information, please call 202-274-3911.
