Due to the overwhelming customer support and response to his closing sale, Tony Zelaya decided that he doesn't have to shutter the Bethesda shop at the end of February after all–at least not completely.
Because the sale was so successful, as of March 1, he plans to change the concept of Zelaya shoes from a full-price retail store to a "discount shoetique," featuring 30 percent to 75 percent discounts off designer shoes every day.
He says he will continue the same level of customer service his regulars have come to expect.
"This is a true story of a shoe store that was saved by its local community." he says. "I am so happy."
