In what may be a first at a local boutique, Gaithersburg’s new So Tres Chic consignment shop is adding space for a sunless tanning system in February. Owner Ellen Didion says the move to add a Mystic Spray Tan HD is part of her campaign to educate younger women on the dangers of UV exposure. “Having personally had malignant melanoma in 1987, then again a year ago, I feel it's important to share this message,” Didion says.
So Tres Chic is the trendy little sister to Didion’s high-end Chic to Chic designer consignment shop located just eight doors down from the new store.
Catering to a younger crowd, So Tres Chic opened in November with hot pink walls and animal print carpeting. The store specializes in denim, prom dresses, tops, handbags and inexpensive jewelry. Look for an upcoming Prom Expo set for March 4.
Chic to Chic also holds the Great Chic Challenge 5K Walk/Jog/Run that benefits skin cancer research at Rio Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg. This year the date is set for April 22.
If you’ve cleaned out your closets and want to consign your items, contact one of the stores or check the website for the how-tos. Spring consignments start mid-February.
