‘Tis the season at Rockville Town Square and Bethesda Row

A tree lighting and holiday shopping specials make the season bright

December 8, 2011 1:51 p.m.

Missed the tree lighting at Rockefeller Plaza and snoozed through the festivities in downtown D.C.? No worries.

You can still watch the twinkling lights illuminate Dec. 14 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rockville Town Square. Once NBC’s Eun Yang flips the switch, shop to the holiday sounds of the Walter Johnson High School Choir, Dance Studio and Rockville Musical Theater Center.

You can even visit with Santa, but don’t rely on him. Get inside the stores for mix of holiday specials. Here’s a sampling:

Bethesda Row is offering a generous share of seasonal events as well.

Tomorrow night, Dec. 9, you can treat the cook in your life to signed copies of José Andres’s cookbooks and DVDs. The chef will be appearing at Jaleo from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with copies of  Made in Spain, Tapas: A Taste of Spain in America as well as Tapas Deck: 50 Little Dishes (cooking cards—great gift idea) and Made in Spain—the DVD version from his PBS show.

And, of course, there’s more to come. We’ll keep you posted.
