Bethesda's Winter Wonderland kicked off the holiday season December 2-3, 2011. Residents were treated to a concert at Imagination Stage on Friday night including performances by American University Gospel Choir, Capital Blend, The Capital Hearings and Vox Pop DC.

On Saturday, an ice sculpting presentation took place in Veterans Park. The sculptors used chainsaws, ice picks and other tools to transform the ice and wow the audience.

Following the demonstration, a choral concert from local schools commenced. Academy of the Holy Cross, Garrett Park Elementary School, Our Lady of Lourdes, Seneca Valley High School and Watkins Mill High School were all in attendance.

To wrap-up the event, Santa Claus made a special visit to downtown Bethesda.
