Local garden centers are offering a fall cornucopia of specials and sales

Though spring brings May flowers, the best time to plant trees is in the fall, according to John Purcell of JP Landscaping in Bethesda.

As luck would have it, the season is also the best time to buy trees, shrubs and perennials at drastically reduced prices.

Here’s a roundup of current sales from four local garden centers.

Save 40 percent off all shrubs, trees (excluding Alberta Spruce) and perennials through Nov. 20. Also save 50 percent off mums.

Save 50 percent off all trees with 75 percent off those in a special clearance area through Nov. 16. All perennials are on sale for $4.
