Potomac resident Nira Berry yuks into good health.

October 24, 2011 8:49 a.m.

When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001, Nira Berry began to look for ways to ease the pain and weakness she was experiencing as a result of the treatments.

She came across research suggesting that laughter can affect stress, pain, mood and even the immune system.

Forcing herself to laugh a few minutes every day has made Berry feel healthier and less stressed.

She now teaches others to laugh through her company, LaughingRx.
