Boutique Week comes to Bethesda Row

The eight-day second annual fashion event features trunk shows, designer appearances and a D.C. film premiere.

September 22, 2011 12:50 p.m.

Bethesda Row will hold its second annual Boutique Week fashion extravaganza from Sept. 30 through Oct. 7.

The highlight of this year’s event is the Oct. 6 premiere of the film Dressed, about fashion designer Nary Manivong’s rise from homelessness in Ohio to New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

The film also features designer Nanette Lepore (whose beautiful Chevy Chase boutique closed this summer). Both Manivong and the director of the film, David Swajeski, will be present after the screening for a Q & A.

Also on Oct. 6, starting at 5 p.m., interior designer Barclay Butera will premier his new line of furnishings at a cocktail party at Urban Country (7117 Arlington Road), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary sale.

Butera’s work has been featured in Town & Country, House Beautiful and Elle Décor. To RSVP to that event, email ucdesigns@aol.com.

Urban Country shoppers will receive 20 percent off special orders and in-store items, including accessories and gifts, throughout Boutique Week.

There will also events all week at select stores including Ginger, J. McLaughlin, Luna, Amethyst, Sassanova, Wear It Well, Kidville, Pink Palm, Urban Chic and MyEyeDr.
