I was browsing the skincare aisle yesterday at the Rockville Whole Foods and ran into the festive display Rochel Roland had just set up for her Joyful Bath Co.—touted there as a local find. The all-natural bath salts, with snappy names like Citrus Buzz and Green Tea Glee, are prominently displayed on a whitewashed table festooned with little pompoms. Roland uses her background in soil sciences to create therapeutic blends from Epsom and Dead Sea salts for her Bethesda business.
You can learn firsthand about what makes the Kensington resident’s concoctions unique at Spa Night at Whole Foods next Monday, Aug. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Whole Body department. Roland will be discussing the benefits of her products along with other vendors, who will be giving demonstrations and free samples. Her salts start at $5.99 for a 2-oz packet.
But Roland isn’t just in Whole Foods. She says next month she’ll be giving away Joyful Bath’s handmade botanical soaps to celebs at the Emmy Awards Gift Lounge at the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills. We’d love to know how those bathtubs size up.
