Bubby’s, at 4866 Cordell Ave. in Bethesda, has closed—for good. Owner Jeff Manas says the short-lived deli “just couldn’t do the numbers.”
We first reported that the deli had closed July 11, but days later Patch.com claimed that the restaurant was undergoing renovations. Manas said Monday that he had explored opening a new concept—a “country and western, barbeque theme”—but that he and his landlord couldn’t agree to terms. “I didn’t want to pay rent while we were undergoing renovations,” he said. “We just couldn’t make a deal.”
