I popped into new (and bustling) salon Orchid Nails & Spa the day after it opened in Park Potomac, and loved the bright natural light streaming in from the windows. The salon opened July 10 on the other side of Love Bridal Couture and offers a full array of nail services—manicures ($16 for the Orchid Classic) and pedicures as well as nail art, acrylics and gels. Owner Tammy Pham (formerly of Acqua Nails in Rockville Town Square) is planning a grand opening celebration later this summer. What’s nice here will be one-stop rejuvenation: The salon will also offer Nu Skin and Dermalogica facials.

Looking for a new way to work out and get long, sleek muscles too? Bethesda native Julie Wender says her new fitness studio, Go Figure will be the only one of its kind in Montgomery County. She says “the figure method” incorporates elements of yoga, Pilates and ballet to give a total body workout and stretching. Participants also use light weights and a ballet barre. Wender says that the workout is done on a padded, carpeted floor and is adaptable for all ages. No special training is required.

Classes in Potomac are $28 and packages are available. Wender is looking for an early October opening next door to Love Bridal Couture. There are eight other locations in New York and Connecticut.
