On July 25, Capital City Mamas of Potomac will launch its inaugural event.

On July 25, Capital City Mamas will launch its inaugural event—giving new and expectant moms an opportunity to gather, enjoy group fitness classes, meet for lunch at local restaurants and hear from a series of guest speakers.

“One Hot Mama” kicks off at Bethesda Row’s Equinox gym, where group fitness manager Robert Sherman has designed a series of classes including yoga, kettle ball and “skinny jeans” for moms. Each day includes two optional fitness classes and a guest speaker at a boutique or area restaurant.

Lindsay Buscher, owner of Urban Chic, will talk about “dressing for your changing body.” Other speakers include local cookbook author Aviva Goldfarb, nutritionist Kelly Dorfman and social worker Glennon Gordon.

Meredith Wade and Sharon Cichy of baby concierge service Capital Baby Planners say they launched the event arm of the company due to customer demand. “Our clients—moms and expectant moms—wanted a place to go where they could meet other similarly situated women and feel like part of a community,” says Wade.

The event also features giveaways and a cocktail party on Saturday, July 30. All events (except gratuities for restaurant meals) are free, but sign-up is required. For more information and registration, please visit http://ccmlaunch.eventbrite.com/.
