The Fresh Market, a Whole Foods-like grocery chain founded in North Carolina, will be opening later this year in Rockville’s Congressional Plaza. In fact, it will replace the Whole Foods Market that’s currently there. That store is moving to North Bethesda Market across from White Flint Mall, and will be opening on April 12.
This will be the first Fresh Market in the Washington metro area; there are 100 around the country, with the closest so far in Annapolis and Baltimore. The new store in Congressional Plaza will sell 30 different breads, 14 kinds of pie and 200 imported and domestic cheeses. It’ll also have a full-service meat counter, ready-to-serve entrees, fresh seafood and lots of organic produce. Looks like we could have dueling good-for-you markets…
