Carole Greenwood, who joined Bethesda’s Food, Wine & Co. in mid-January as executive chef, has left the restaurant. In fact, she cooked there for only two days.
Owner Francis Namin said Greenwood was “not a good match for the restaurant,” and that she had a hard time delegating to other people in the kitchen.
A longtime Washington chef and restaurateur who most recently co-owned Comet Ping Pong and Buck’s Fishing and Camping in Northwest Washington, Greenwood has a reputation for being talented but difficult. At the same time, Food, Wine & Co. has had personnel issues of its own, going through a litany of high-level staff since it opened in September. Greenwood joins the turnover list, which includes former chef de cuisine Kyle Christy, manager Jill Christy, and executive chef Paolo Buffa.
Namin said he is finalizing arrangements with a new chef, so stay tuned.
