Ajay Aggarwal’s daughter goes to NYU and takes the Tripper Bus from the corner of Edgemoor Lane and Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda to the Big Apple. Soon, she and other bus travelers, plus local lunch and dinner goers, will have a new option in the former Crossfire restaurant space located at that busy corner. Aggarwal is opening Geste Wine & Food, a wine and beer shop and casual counter-service eatery featuring upscale salads, sandwiches, Panini and pizza.

The owner of Pasta Nostra in Laurel, Aggarwal said he’ll be serving the same from-scratch pizza made at that restaurant, in addition to carrying 30 kinds of beer and some high-end wines. When I dropped by there last week, it looked as if the place—still under construction—was getting nicely spiffed up, with apricot-colored walls, handsome shelving and glass tile. Look for an early February opening.
