Soon, I really will be able to while away the hours eating bonbons. In January, a new French pastry shop called Tout de Sweet is slated to open at 7831 Woodmont Ave. in Bethesda, and the caloric investment sounds like it will be well worth it. Owner Jerome Colin, a Frenchman who trained in France, has held top positions at Washington, D.C.’s Four Seasons Hotel, the Willard Room and the Sofitel Lafayette Square hotel, and worked with some of the food world’s leading chefs, including Alain Ducasse, Guenter Seeger, Michael Mina and Antoine Westermann. This is Colin’s first pastry shop, where he’ll be making traditional French pastries, wedding cakes and American favorites such as cheesecake.
Tout de Sweet will offer counter service, coffee and tea, and an outdoor café in warm weather. Colin lives in Chevy Chase with his wife Sofia, who will be in charge of the front of the shop. Save room for mousse cake.
