Goodbye Foie Gras, Hello Chopped Liver

That’s an accurate way to say that the former La Miche restaurant at 7905 Norfolk Ave. in Bethesda is being converted to a New York-style deli. Called Uptown Deli, it promises serve top-notch brisket, chicken soup, corned beef and other Jewish specialties, according to general manager Howard Wasserman. There’s not much competition; in my mind, no delis around here have come close to replicating the northern nosh capital.

The restaurant was slated to open in August; I’d like to hear reports (kvetching or compliments).
