Police Blotter: Stabbing at Westfield Montgomery; Officer-involved shooting in Silver Spring

Commercial burglary

A commercial burglary occurred at about 9 a.m. June 8 at Tribalco LLC at 4915 Saint Elmo Ave.

Residential burglary

Someone broke into and took property from a residence in the 10700 block of Saint Paul Street between about 9:20 and 10 a.m. June 8.

Garage break-in

A residential garage burglary occurred in the 11100 block of Arroyo Drive between 10:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. June 7. There were no signs of forced entry; the garage door was reported to have been left open. Property was taken.

Stabbing at Westfield Montgomery

A stabbing occurred at the Westfield Montgomery shopping mall at approximately 4:47 p.m. June 10. The suspect was arrested.

Thefts from vehicles

Two thefts from vehicles occurred between 6:30 p.m. June 7 and 7:30 a.m. June 8. One theft occurred in the 5500 block of Warwick Place and another occurred in the 5500 block of Uppington Street. No forced entry was reported, but property was taken.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred between 4 p.m. June 8 and 10 a.m. June 9. Affected streets included Aberdeen Road, Vernon Place and Honeywell Lane. No forced entry was reported. Cash and property were taken.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between June 9 and 12. Affected streets included Shagbark Court, Shagbark Drive, Stonehenge Place, Grey Hollow Court and Rockledge Drive. Force was reported in one event; cash and property were taken.


Residential burglaries

Someone gained entry and removed power tools from an unlocked garage in the 400 block of Baltimore Road sometime between 10 a.m. June 2 and 11:45 a.m. June 6.

Someone broke a rear glass door to gain entry to a residence on the 300 block of Misty Knoll Drive between 4 and 8 p.m. June 6. Nothing was taken.

Someone gained entry into a residence on the 900 block of Farm Haven Drive through an unsecured rear sliding door between 1 and 4:00 a.m. June 7. Once inside, the burglar took two laptops, a camera, cellphone, cash and a vehicle.

Someone entered an unsecured garage on the 200 block of Redland Boulevard between 1 and 3 a.m. June 10. Once inside, the burglar entered an unlocked vehicle and removed two pairs of reading glasses, a driver’s license and four credit/debit cards from a purse that had been left on the front seat.

Someone entered an unsecured garage on the 300 block of Pure Spring Crescent between 4 and 5:40 a.m. June 10. After gaining entrance into the residence through an unlocked door leading from the garage, the burglar removed a wallet containing cash and two credit cards.

Employee assaulted

An employee at a business in the 700 block of Rockville Pike reported that while she was assisting a customer, a woman struck her from behind to get her attention. The employee turned around to explain to the person that she was helping another customer and would be available shortly. At this point the woman left the business.

Stolen phone

A woman reported that she was walking on the 700 block of Monroe Street between 5:55 and 6:05 a.m. on June 7 when a man wearing a black ski mask approached and demanded her cell phone. The man then took the phone from the woman’s hands and fled the area.

Driver assaulted

A driver reported that he had gotten into a verbal argument with another driver over a traffic altercation at 11:04 a.m. June 8 on the 2700 block of Tower Oaks Boulevard. During the argument, the second driver threatened and assaulted the first driver. The second driver then fled the area.

Silver Spring

Residential burglaries

Someone broke into a residence in the 800 block of Violet Place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:16 p.m. June 12. Property was taken.

Someone broke into a residence in the unit block of Park Valley Road at 7:51 p.m. June 7. Nothing was taken. A 14-year-old boy from Takoma Park was arrested. Police are looking for three other boys, ages 14 to 15 years old.

Someone broke into and took property from a residence in the 600 block of Eldrid Drive between 7:20 a.m. and 4:38 p.m. June 6.

Armed robberies

Two men robbed another man and took his property at about 8:55 p.m. June 8 in the 9400 block of Worth Avenue. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Three males, ages unknown, robbed a man of cash and property at about 9:30 p.m. June 12 in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace. One of the robbers displayed a weapon.

Two males, ages unknown, displayed weapons and assaulted and robbed a man in the area of Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane in the early morning hours of June 12.


Four to six men, around age 20, displayed weapons and assaulted another man in the area of Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane in the early morning hours of June 12.

Officer-involved shooting

An officer-involved shooting occurred in the 9200 block of Three Oaks Drive at approximately 2:14 p.m. June 11. Robert L. White, 41, of Dearborn Avenue, Silver Spring, was fatally shot.

Aggravated assault

An aggravated assault occurred in the 1700 block of Hampshire Green Lane at 11:27 p.m. June 12. One of two males involved, ages unknown, displayed a weapon and assaulted a man.
