The county's public schools will open two hours later than normal on Thursday because of snowy conditions.

Montgomery County Public Schools canceled classes altogether on Wednesday and announced at about 7 p.m. that school operations would be delayed the following day.

Buses will run two hours behind schedule, and morning activities, including early prekindergarten and a.m. Head Start, are canceled. Other programs that begin before 10:50 a.m. are also canceled Thursday, according to the MCPS notification.

Administrative offices will open on time on Thursday. Day care programs in school buildings might also be running on schedule.

The school system will continue to keep an eye on the roadways and, if necessary, will announce a complete closure by 7 a.m. Thursday.
