Updated: Beltway Motorists Warned of Triple Lane Closures Planned for Weekend Work at Connecticut Avenue
Closures are scheduled for Friday night through mid-day Sunday for bridge resurfacing
Updated 12:22 p.m. Friday: Drivers should expect major delays on the Beltway this weekend with triple-lane closures planned on the outer loop where it passes over Connecticut Avenue.
The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Sunday and will allow work crews to resurface the highway section, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
Motorists hoping to avoid traffic jams can take Georgia Avenue and University Boulevard to get to Connecticut Avenue if they’re traveling west toward the American Legion Bridge. They could also use Colesville Road and East West Highway to travel to Connecticut Avenue, SHA advised. The Intercounty Connector is another alternative.
The road upgrades will be similar to the recent improvements on the outer loop over Kensington Parkway and are part of the outer loop resurfacing effort between Seminary Road and the I- 270 spur.
The work is contingent on the weather, according to the SHA release.
